About Lactivist Bling

How it started

Lactivist Beads Lactivist Bling was set up after the huge demand for nursing necklaces sold on www.lactivist.co.uk meant that they needed a website all to themselves! Lactivist is the home of funky slogan t-shirts that promote breastfeeding and is run by a work at home mum who was once critisised for breastfeeding in public. Her reaction was to use her design skills to create a tiny pro-breastfeeding t-shirt for her son and Lactivist was born!

A Lactivist is a lactation activist, and Lactivists have a networking site at www.lactivist.net where you can read lots of useful articles and get the latest news about breastfeeding.

There is also a very lively Lactivist Facebook Page

and a Facebook Page just for Lactivist Bling

Safety

Lait d'Amour safety statement:

Lactivist Beads Our hand made Nursing Necklaces are made from brightly coloured Non -Toxic acrylic beads and beaded using 100 lb - 300 lb tested cord. Our 300 lb tested Nursing Necklaces are by far the STRONGEST nursing necklaces available on the market! We do not use dangerous glass beads that can splinter or crack, and all our nursing necklaces areSafety Tested to British standards. BSEN 71-1:2OO5 clause 5.1 (toy standards).

Lactivist BeadsWe do not to use break-away clasps on our nursing necklaces. Apart from defeating the object of a nursing necklace (babies have a tendency to pull and play with these) customer experiences show that they pop open too often making them irritating to keep putting back on, plus they are prone to wear and tear (becoming even looser over time) and even run the risk of falling apart at the clasp. Other sellers claim that the knot is the weakest point. This not true. It is in our experience and PROVEN during safety testing - that our secure knoting methods ensure that Lait d'Amour nursing necklaces are the very strongest!

Please note: As confident as were are about our products, everyone should be aware of the possibility or rare, unforeseen accidents. No child should be left unsupervised with any type of jewelry because of the risk of possible strangulation or choking. Always use supervision when using your nursing necklace. We (Lait d'Amour) are not liable for any unforeseen accidents. These products are not recommended as teethers. Our product packaging will carry a safety label.

Babybeads safety statement:

Our necklaces are specifically made with safety in mind from fun colourful and attractive non-toxic acrylic beads. We do not use dangerous glass beads or wooden beads that may splinter. The necklaces are strung on ultra strong waterproof cord (not fishing line like some other necklaces on the market) tested to 100lbs (approximately 45kg) breaking strain and are knotted to minimise loss of beads in the unlikely event of a breakage. The necklace is secured very strongly using a unique knotting method.

Nursing Necklaces and Reminder Bracelets are not toys and due to the risk of strangulation they must never be worn by a baby or young child. It is our recommendation that it is only ever worn by a sensible adult. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the safety of our products Babybeads UK cannot be held responsible for any injury caused by our products. By buying from us you agree to take responsibility for the proper use of this product, ensuring full supervision at all times. When you are not wearing your necklace it must be kept out of the reach and sight of children. While safety is in the forefront with our designs, like anything it can pose a risk when used incorrectly.

Babybeads-uk necklaces have been safety tested and conform to BS EN71 (1995) + A1 +AC1 Part 3, EN71 (2005) A9 Part 1 & EN71 (2005) Part 1 standards.

L'Agulhas Baby safety statement

The bracelets we provide are normally finished with non-tarnishing stainless steel end balls, stainless steel wire and silver rhodium plated numbers, and will be supplied with a metal charm. The style of charm supplied may be subject to change, depending on availability. The components of these bracelets are sourced from reputable suppliers who comply fully with the EU Nickel Directives. Although best efforts are always made to ensure that the end balls are carefully and strongly fixed in place, these items of jewellery are not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of small children as beads may present a choking hazard.

Monkey Mama safety statement

Monkey Mama necklaces are created with handmade resin beads. They are completely non toxic and highly durable. Each necklace is strung on strong cotton thong and secured with sliding knots to make the length of the necklace adjustable for style and function - short for babywearing and general use, and longer for nursing. This method of securing also has the benefit of creating an extremely strong necklace that can withstand the pulling and tugging of any nursling. The necklaces also feature visible knots between beads as both an aesthetic design and an extra safety feature to give you additional peace of mind.

Whilst you can be confident that your little one will not ingest any nasties should they mouth a Monkey Mama Necklace, these are not created as teethers and should not be used as such. The necklaces are not toys and babies and toddlers should never be left unsupervised with one.

Wild Sheep safety statement

Each amber teething necklace is unique and knotted between each bead, so if the necklace does break (if will break if excessive force is applied) only one bead will come off and the remaining beads will stay intact. The screw clasp will also release if excessive force is applied, ensuring the highest safety. Because of its natural softness and vulnerability to chemiclas, amber jewellery requires some special care in handling and storing, so please: Do not put your amber jewellery on before hairspray and perfume is applied, because it will likely create a white coating on the amber that may be permanent. Never let the amber come in contact with strong solutions, soaps, detergents and commercial jewellery cleaning solutions. Keep the amber jewellery away from common kitchen substances such as lard, salad oil, butter and excessive heat of ovens and burners.

Cluster Jewellery safety statement

All components are of the highest quality, we only source from reputable suppliers. The silver used is silver plated or Tibetan silver The wire is curved at the ends of the bracelet to ensure there are no weak-points where beads could come loose and pose a choking hazard. While resilient, please note that jewellery is not a toy and is intended for adult use only; please do not allow children to wear it, never leave a child unsupervised with it or allow them to use the jewellery as a teether. The wire will hold its shape well but if excessive force is applied it will bend or warp.

Cleaning your Breastfeeding Jewellery

Lactivist Beads Nursing Necklaces and Reminder Bracelets are not sold as baby teethers therefore there is no real need to sterilise them

However all the Nursing Necklaces and Reminder Bracelets are 100% waterproof unless otherwise stated and therefore can be sterilised in cold water with the exclusion of necklaces with bells.

Wiping the beads with baby wipes is also very effective.

Please use only a soft flannel cloth to clean Baltic amber and natural gem stone and silver jewellery and do not place it in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner as the gems would shatter.
